Anyone who knows me knows I love a bit of mustard in my wardrobe – but don’t much care for the condiment!
Having moved across country I had a massive clear out of my wardrobe just before Christmas, and am now looking to revitalise it and add some new items, and everywhere I look I’m bombarded with mustard items that are tempting me to spend my ever-dwindling funds!
Here are some of the items I’m lusting after at the moment:
New Look – Mustard Top Handle Bag – £15.99

This bag is just beaut. Perfect for a night out or shopping trip where you don’t need to take much with you, this is a brilliant size for a small purse, your phone and your keys, plus those other handbag essentials, which for me include hand cream, vaseline, and my powder.
At only £15.99 this is a definite hit with me, and would go with my other favourite wardrobe staples, my black polo neck jumper and leggings, or indeed anything navy! Use it to add a pop of colour to those tres parisienne ensembles!
Paper bag trousers – available from River Island (£45) and H&M (£24.99)
Now, I’m sure I’m not the only person who has gone into a shop and tried on paper bag trousers, or worse, cigarette pants, and swiftly left said shop feeling like the fattest fat who ever was fat. BUT bear with me on this one, because they look so good when you find a good pair, and these two pairs from H&M and River Island are the perfect way of adding a pop of colour into your work outfit, just pair with a white or black blouse and you’ll be the talk of the office!
I must admit, I slightly prefer the River Island ones personally, but for those looking to spend under £30, the H&M trousers are a good alternative for almost half the price!
Topshop – Horn Button Palazzo Trousers – £39

These palazzo pants are probably my most sought after item on this list – look how cool they are!
I have always been a big fan of palazzo pants, and as previously mentioned, a big fan of mustard, so I’m not sure how these could get better for me really!
Again, I’d look to pair these with a nice black or white blouse for a great workwear ensemble, or even with a basic jersey tee for a weekend shopping or coffee date look.
River Island – Tailored coat – £85
I’ve been on the hunt for a mustard coat for what seems like yonks now, and I thought I’d finally found the perfect one in New Look shortly before Christmas, which was the same as my favoured red coat, but in mustard! Perfect because I already knew I’d like the fit, but unfortunately I spotted it about a week and a half before pay-day and had no chance of stretching my budget to buy it!
By the time I’d got money again, my local store had run out of stock, and soon after it disappeared from the website, much to my distress! So when I was looking around today and came across this offering from River Island, I got excited that I hadn’t blown my chance, but a little put off by the fact that I’m unemployed and the RI offering is about £50 more expensive!
We’ll have to see if it’s still available when I get myself a job!
River Island – Tie-front pencil skirt – £38

I don’t know whether it’s because I’m currently job hunting that I’m so attracted to workwear looks at the moment, but check this one out for sure!
This skirt is so stunning, and would definitely make you feel like a queen at work, but I do feel like it’s probably more for women who are confident about their legs, because that slit does go quite high – I know personally I’d struggle with my confidence in it due to my thunder thighs!
For anyone, like me, who is a little put off by the slit, River Island also has this skirt, also for £38, which is a bit safer.
I can’t wait to be employed again so the wardrobe rejuvenation can really get under-way!
